Because of the recent spike in active COVID-19 cases near us and in order to continue to DO NO HARM, the reopening of live in-sanctuary services at LUMC, scheduled for this Sunday, July 5th, has been postponed until further notice.
On Tuesday, June 29th, the Douglas County health department issued a new health order which requires masks to be worn in indoor public spaces beginning, July 1st. Douglas County's Local Health Officer Dr. Thomas Marcellino stated, "Unfortunately, we have seen a steady increase of cases in recent weeks, including localized outbreaks and more than 30 new cases over the past weekend--numbers we had not experienced locally during the pandemic."
Members of the ReOpen, Worship, and Comm/Media teams are encouraged to continue to assist in the 9:30am services, as they feel led, in preparation for a reopening to be announced at a later date. Services will continue to be broadcast on the Lecompton United Methodist Church Facebook page.
Please monitor social media and the website, www.LecomptonUMC.org, for further updates.
May God guide us and give us counsel during this difficult season.
Blessings on your heads!
Thank you for participating in this confidential survey.
This survey includes several questions about your current feelings about returning to regular church activities when local government lifts its ban on public gatherings
There are four ways you may use to continue giving to the Lecompton United Methodist Church:
1) Mail a check (not cash) to LUMC, POB 91, Lecompton, KS, 66050;
2) Set up a regular bank draft with your bank. Your bank will mail a check for you to the church; you set up the amount and schedule for when they will send it--weekly, monthly, etc.
3) Drive through banking at First State Bank in Perry, tell the teller you would like to make a deposit in the Lecompton United Methodist Church account. They will take care of that for you and give you a receipt. You do not have to know the account number.
4) Use the "Secure Online Giving" link on the front page of our website, www.LecomptonUMC.org. Here you may use your credit/debit card or your PayPal account.

LUMC Food Pantry CHANGES EFFECTIVE immediately DUE TO THE SPREAD OF THE COVID-19 virus. In order to limit exposure to the virus, there will be NO INDIVIDUAL SHOPPING AT THE PANTRY.
Effective this Saturday (March 21),from 7:30-11am, LUMC God's Healthy Choice Food Pantry will suspend all non-essential personnel from entering the building. Friends of the pantry will be asked to fill out a shopping list (provided) of perishable and non-perishable items. Shoppers will then fill your order and bring your bags to your vehicle. (No reusable bags, please).
Sorry, no hugs, handshakes, etc., as we exercise social distancing.
Vehicles will need to line up in the church parking lot behind the church, enter off of Woodson Str. and exit to the south. There will be signs.
There will be a sign up sheet just inside the east door on a table. Also a shopping list for you to fill out, if you have not already filled one out. We will try and fill all of the items on it. Senior boxes will be available for the seniors who have signed up for them.
Blank shopping lists will be in a sheet protector on the north blue door of the church and also on the fellowship hall door off of Elmore. There will also be an empty folder if you choose to fill out the list early and put in the folder to help speed up the line. This folder will be checked daily. There will also be blank shopping list in the Post Office in Lecompton.
In addition, Just Food will be in the parking behind the church on Wednesday March 18, 11 to noon, to distribute nonperishable food items. If you care to get a box line up in the parking lot behind the church, enter from Woodson and exit to the south follow signs, Just Food is trying to also assist families during this time as well.
