CHANGES EFFECTIVE immediately to LUMC PANTRY

LUMC Food Pantry CHANGES EFFECTIVE immediately DUE TO THE SPREAD OF THE COVID-19 virus. In order to limit exposure to the virus, there will be NO INDIVIDUAL SHOPPING AT THE PANTRY.

Effective this Saturday (March 21),from 7:30-11am, LUMC God's Healthy Choice Food Pantry will suspend all non-essential personnel from entering the building. Friends of the pantry will be asked to fill out a shopping list (provided) of perishable and non-perishable items. Shoppers will then fill your order and bring your bags to your vehicle. (No reusable bags, please).

Sorry, no hugs, handshakes, etc., as we exercise social distancing.

Vehicles will need to line up in the church parking lot behind the church, enter off of Woodson Str. and exit to the south. There will be signs.

There will be a sign up sheet just inside the east door on a table. Also a shopping list for you to fill out, if you have not already filled one out. We will try and fill all of the items on it. Senior boxes will be available for the seniors who have signed up for them.

Blank shopping lists will be in a sheet protector on the north blue door of the church and also on the fellowship hall door off of Elmore. There will also be an empty folder if you choose to fill out the list early and put in the folder to help speed up the line. This folder will be checked daily. There will also be blank shopping list in the Post Office in Lecompton.

In addition, Just Food will be in the parking behind the church on Wednesday March 18, 11 to noon, to distribute nonperishable food items. If you care to get a box line up in the parking lot behind the church, enter from Woodson and exit to the south follow signs, Just Food is trying to also assist families during this time as well.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we try to fulfill God's calling to be God's church, even in these difficult times. Grace and Peace!

A warm welcome to Kevin, Tammy, and Austin Fowler!

The Fowlers live in Oskaloosa where Tammy has a beauty shop and drives a school bus. Kevin has worked for Hallmark for 30 years, and Austin works for JB Pearl in Perry. We are so blessed that they have joined us in our work as disciples of Christ in this body of faith!

We are so blessed to welcome Jerry and Frances Snell, who were received by transfer! The Snells live in Oskaloosa where both are retired from the state of Kansas.  We are so very happy that they have joined us in our work as disciples of Christ in this body of faith!

We are so pleased to welcome our newest members, Ashlee and Cody Green from Oskaloosa!  They've been married about a year.  Cody was baptized last Sunday, Dec. 1, and is a brand new professing member!  Ashlee comes to us via transfer from another UMC.  Welcome to Lecompton United Methodist Church, Ashlee and Cody!

You may be asking, "What is a Blessing Box?". A Blessing Box is a "mini-food pantry". When the food pantry is not open, the Blessing Boxes may supplement some essentials.

The idea is simple: Take what you need. Leave what you can.

It means that those who leave items are blessed enough to be able to do so, and that those who need to take items, are blessed that the items are there to take. All items are non-perishable and are free for the taking. Thanks to all who made these Blessing Boxes a reality!

You can find them on the east side of Lecompton United Methodist Church as well as at Lecompton Elementary School.

To the clergy of the Great Plains Conference:

Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr. has prepared a statement (linked below) regarding the Protocol of Reconciliation & Grace Through Separation that was shared Jan. 3.

The bishop is planning a video regarding this topic using the linked document as his script, but he wanted our clergy to have his thoughts this morning.

The document also will be posted with his video on the conference website at some point this afternoon.
